Recruiter: “Have you applied with X Company? Do you know them?”

Job Seeker: “No, never heard of them… submit CV”

Recruiter submits CV and then…

X Company: “We’ve received this CV from 4 different Recruiters. If this candidate can’t manage their applications, then it’s not the type of person we would employ. Please regret!”

𝗝𝗼𝗯 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀!

There’s no point applying for the same company through various recruiters. The first recruiter to introduce you to a company and discuss the company with you is the recruiter who will submit your CV. The 2nd, 3rd, and the 4th recruiter will not do a better job than the first one.

When and if you are in the job market, please prepare a spreadsheet which you keep updated with each application. You can then quickly reference this, when speaking to a recruiter or a company, to know where your CV has been submitted, by whom and when. This is probably the easiest way to control your job applications.

There are also some online tools you can use if spreadsheets are not your thing. Here are some examples:

Duplications of your applications are not working in your favour.

I know that, unfortunately, there are still some recruiters who will show your CV to a client without telling you the client’s name or discussing the company with you. Do you really want to work with these recruiters?
