Role Summary
This role is suited to a technically trained sales professional with proven experience in filtration solutions for mining and heavy industry. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining customer relationships, selling filtration products, and supporting clients with technically sound solutions across dust and wet filtration applications.
The position combines structured sales activity with technical understanding, customer support, and regional market development. You will work closely with mining operations, EPCM partners, distributors, and internal teams to grow both local and African export markets.
This role is not suited to general sales profiles. A relevant engineering qualification, hands-on filtration experience, and the required languages are essential.
Responsibilities
Technical Sales and Customer Development
- Manage and grow assigned mining and industrial accounts
- Promote and sell filtration products across dust and wet filtration applications
- Present technical solutions clearly and confidently to customers
- Identify new sales opportunities during site visits and customer engagements
- Develop business in South Africa and selected African export markets
Product and Application Support
- Provide technical guidance on filtration products including filter cloths, dust filter bags, cathode bags, plates, and related equipment
- Support customers with product selection, application advice, and performance optimisation
- Assist customers with troubleshooting and post-sale technical support
- Ensure customers understand product usage, maintenance, and service requirements
Sales Process and Administration
- Prepare accurate quotations using the required systems
- Maintain up-to-date customer records, visit reports, and sales documentation
- Track sales activity, forecasts, and progress against targets
- Follow defined sales procedures, reporting lines, and approval processes
Market and Regional Development
- Support growth of African export markets through direct sales and distributor engagement
- Identify new customers, agents, or partners in developing regions
- Monitor competitor activity, customer feedback, and market trends
- Support marketing initiatives and regional sales strategies
Customer Relationship Management
- Build long-term, trust-based relationships with customers
- Maintain regular contact with key accounts
- Address customer concerns professionally and promptly
- Support order processing and follow up on outstanding matters when required
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience (Essential)
- Engineering diploma or degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Chemical, or Mining Engineering
- Proven experience in the filtration industry within mining or heavy industry
- Hands-on experience in either dust filtration or wet filtration
- Three to five years’ experience in technical sales within mining, industrial, or export environments
- Demonstrated experience developing business and travelling within Africa
Languages (Essential)
- Fluency in English
- Working proficiency in French or Portuguese is required for regional market engagement
Technical and Commercial Skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Strong understanding of costing, pricing, and basic financial calculations
- Computer literacy including MS Office and sales or accounting systems
- Ability to prepare professional presentations and technical proposals
Mobility and Compliance
- Valid driver’s licence and own vehicle
- Willingness and physical ability to travel locally and across Africa
- Valid work authorisation for South Africa
- Clear criminal and credit record
