Senior Software Developer
Developer/Designer
Johannesburg – Gauteng – South Africa
Senior Software Developer
Salary: Highly negotiable, based on experience
Area: Johannesburg East
Type: Onsite
About the role
You’ve built things. Shipped things. Fixed the things nobody else wanted to touch. Now you’re ready to lead, not just execute, and you want to do it somewhere that actually values the craft.
This is a senior developer role with a growing Fintech company, and it’s less about writing more code and more about shaping how good code gets written. You’ll take ownership of architecture decisions, guide the team’s technical direction, and mentor developers who are earlier in their journey than you. If you’ve got strong opinions about clean design and scalable systems, and you’re tired of those opinions being ignored, this is a place where they’ll actually land.
Tech you’ll be working with: C#, .NET, .NET Core, Angular, Flutter, Node.js, JavaScript, SQL, Web API (JSON), Docker, and cloud environments across Azure and AWS. Exposure to generative AI development and container orchestration (AKS, EKS) is a bonus.
What you’ll be doing
- Designing and building clean, secure, well-tested code, and leading code reviews that actually improve the codebase
- Making the architectural calls: choosing the right technologies, frameworks, and patterns for scalable systems
- Working closely with QA to build proper test plans, and supporting the team when things break
- Mentoring junior and intermediate developers, and taking the lead on project planning and technical direction
- Maintaining and improving existing systems so they stay efficient, not just functional
- Writing unit and integration tests, debugging with intent, and staying current on tools and trends worth adopting
What you’ll bring
- 8 to 10 years in software development
- A Bachelor’s degree (NQF level 7) in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar
- Solid hands-on experience with C#, .NET, .NET Core, Angular, Flutter, Node.js, and SQL Server
- A real understanding of OOP principles and the full SDLC, not just the theory
- Comfort with Git or similar version control, and testing across unit, integration, and functional levels
- Experience working in Azure and AWS environments
- Azure or AWS certification is a plus, as is exposure to AKS, EKS, or container orchestration more broadly
- You communicate clearly, work well with others, and you’re the kind of person who solves problems instead of just flagging them
