    • Monitor model performance and identify opportunities for improvement
    • Evaluate and implement new process models from internal and external suppliers
    • Design, develop and commission in-house process models
    • Conduct simulations, process studies and economic evaluations to improve plant performance
    • Provide technical support to plant operations and strategic business initiatives
    • Work closely with engineers, technicians, operators, management and R&D teams
    • Standardise modelling practices where applicable
    • Train and support process model users
    • Maintain comprehensive technical and functional documentation
    • Manage relationships with stakeholders and technology vendors

Requirements
    • BEng Degree (NQF 7) in Electrical, Electronic, Computer, Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience applying engineering, mathematics or statistical principles to improve industrial processes
    • At least 5 years’ experience within heavy industry, ideally in steel manufacturing
    • Minimum 4 years’ experience working with process models and a strong understanding of first-principles modelling
    • Practical experience within Hot Rolling, including:
        • Reheating furnace models
        • Setup models
        • Cooling models
        • Shape control
        • Automatic Gauge Control (AGC)
        • Product tracking
