Senior IT Infrastructure Administrator
Salary: R30k – R50k + Benefits

This is a great opportunity for a senior IT professional who enjoys owning infrastructure, keeping systems stable, and making sure the business stays connected, secure, and productive. You will join a well-established group with multiple operating sites, where reliable IT is critical to day-to-day operations. This role suits someone who is equally comfortable working across networks, servers, Microsoft environments, security, and support, and who takes pride in solving problems properly. Tech stack includes routing and switching, VPNs, Mikrotik, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Azure AD, Windows Server, Hyper-V, firewalls, and wireless infrastructure.
 
Responsibilities
    • Manage and maintain the company’s core IT infrastructure across multiple sites
    • Support and improve LAN, WAN, VPN, VLAN, Wi-Fi, and internet connectivity
    • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot routers, switches, access points, firewalls, and related network hardware
    • Administer server environments including Active Directory, file and share permissions, and Windows Server 2019/2022
    • Support Microsoft 365 services including Exchange, Azure Active Directory, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint
    • Maintain secure connectivity between on-prem and cloud environments
    • Monitor infrastructure performance, troubleshoot issues, and resolve escalated technical problems
    • Manage backups, recovery processes, patching, firmware updates, and failover testing
    • Support virtual environments using Hyper-V
    • Manage secure remote access for staff and contractors
    • Identify infrastructure risks and act early to reduce downtime and improve security
    • Assist with upgrades, migrations, hardware replacements, and infrastructure improvement projects
    • Work with service providers and vendors where needed
    • Keep documentation, configurations, and procedures accurate and up to date
    • Support junior team members with guidance on infrastructure and network-related tasks
 
Requirements
    • 5+ years of experience in IT administration, infrastructure, or network support
    • Strong hands-on experience with TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing protocols, VPNs, firewalls, switches, and wireless infrastructure
    • Solid experience with Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft 365 environments
    • Good knowledge of Windows Server 2019/2022 and Windows 10/11
    • Experience with Hyper-V virtualisation
    • Strong working knowledge of Mikrotik RouterOS
    • Familiarity with infrastructure and network monitoring tools
    • Experience with server and network administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting
    • Good understanding of backups, disaster recovery, business continuity, and IT security
    • A+ and N+ plus Microsoft certification or engineering certification preferred
    • MCITP and Network Security+ will be advantageous
    • Diploma in IT Systems Administration, NQF Level 4/5, preferred
    • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
    • Able to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and stay thorough and consistent
    • Reliable, organised, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership
