About the Role
An established legal practice is looking for an experienced Litigation Secretary with strong Road Accident Fund experience to join its Paarl office.
The firm’s head office is based in Centurion, with a local office situated in the Paarl area. This is a fully office-based position suited to someone who knows RAF litigation well, understands the pace and detail required in a legal environment, and can confidently manage matters from an administrative and secretarial perspective.
This is a role for an experienced legal professional who enjoys being relied on, works accurately, and understands how important strong secretarial support is to the successful running of litigation matters.
Responsibilities
- Provide full secretarial and administrative support on Road Accident Fund litigation matters
- Prepare, type and format legal documents, correspondence, notices and pleadings
- Manage RAF litigation files and ensure documentation is accurate and up to date
- Assist with court-related documentation, filing and case preparation
- Manage diaries, appointments, deadlines and follow-ups
- Liaise professionally with clients, attorneys, advocates, experts, courts and other relevant parties
- Maintain organised electronic and physical filing systems
- Follow up on outstanding documentation and information
- Keep track of important litigation dates and ensure matters progress efficiently
- Handle confidential and sensitive legal information with discretion
- Support the legal team with the day-to-day administration required to keep RAF matters moving
Requirements
- At least 10 years’ experience as a Road Accident Fund Legal Litigation Secretary
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of RAF claims, litigation processes and procedures
- Solid experience in Cape Town High Court procedures
- Strong typing, administration and legal document preparation skills
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work accurately under pressure
- Good organisational and diary-management skills
- Proficiency in Caselines and Court Online
- Professional communication skills and confidence dealing with clients and legal professionals
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities
- No specific formal qualification is required
- Afrikaans would be advantageous
- The ability to speak an African language would also be beneficial, but is not essential
Must be comfortable working fully onsite in the Paarl area
