AWS MAP Project Manager
Salary: R60k – R80k per month
Remote – South Africa only
We’re looking for an AWS MAP Project Manager who thrives on making complex cloud projects run like clockwork. This is your chance to take ownership of AWS Migration Acceleration Program (MAP) projects from start to finish – from the very first assessment through to the final handover.
If you enjoy working closely with AWS teams, guiding stakeholders, and making sure every milestone lands on time (and within funding guidelines), this role will keep you on your toes.
What you’ll do
- Manage AWS MAP Mobilize phase projects: MRAs, Landing Zones, Security Foundations, portfolio assessments, and business cases.
- Oversee the full project lifecycle – onboarding, delivery, and transition into Migrate & Modernise.
- Keep all MAP-specific plans, checklists, trackers, and deliverables in order.
- Ensure projects align with AWS stage gates, timelines, and funding requirements.
- Be the go-to person for AWS, internal teams, and clients on MAP-related activities.
- Coordinate cross-functional workstreams in governance, security, operations, and application discovery.
- Plan and manage resources using tools like Jira or Monday.com.
- Report regularly on progress, risks, timelines, and funding usage.
- Capture lessons learned and keep improving delivery.
What you’ll bring
- 3+ years’ project management experience in cloud migration or consulting – ideally AWS-focused.
- Track record delivering multi-workstream cloud or enterprise IT projects.
- Solid understanding of AWS MAP, especially the Mobilize phase.
- Experience with AWS-native tools (Control Tower, Config, CloudTrail, SSO, IAM, Well-Architected Tool).
- Confident managing cross-functional teams and multiple moving parts.
- Strong governance, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Comfortable with Jira, Confluence, Monday.com, or similar platforms.
Nice-to-haves:
- AWS Cloud Practitioner or Solutions Architect – Associate certification.
- Project management certification (Prince2, PMP, AgilePM, Scrum Master).
- Experience with AWS Partners or MAP-funded engagements.
- Knowledge of AWS funding programmes (MAP, WAFR, OLA, TIDF) and PoE reporting.
- FinOps or cloud cost modelling experience.
If you know how to keep big cloud projects moving without losing sight of the detail, we’d love to hear from you.
