About the Role
An exciting opportunity is available for a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant to join a well-established manufacturing business based in Atlantis.
This role is ideal for a qualified Accounting Professional with 3-5 years of post-qualification experience, someone who is looking to broaden their exposure across financial accounting, taxation, payroll, reporting, and business advisory functions. You will work in a hands-on environment where your contribution will directly support business performance, compliance, and financial decision-making.

Responsibilities
Financial Accounting
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
- Process accounting transactions and maintain accurate financial records.
- Perform bank, debtor, creditor, and intercompany reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS for SMEs and applicable legislation.
- Conduct cost analysis and investigate variances requiring management attention.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
Annual Financial Statements and Reviews
- Compile and maintain working paper files for review engagements.
- Identify accounting issues and recommend practical solutions.
- Support the preparation and review of annual financial statements.
Taxation
- Prepare and submit VAT201, EMP201, EMP501, and Income Tax returns.
- Prepare and review provisional tax calculations.
- Manage SARS audits, verifications, compliance matters, and queries.
- Provide tax-related support and guidance where required.
Payroll
- Oversee and review monthly payroll processing.
- Ensure compliance with PAYE, SDL, UIF, and IRP5 requirements.
- Reconcile payroll-related statutory submissions.
Supplier and Debtor Management
- Manage supplier and debtor portfolios independently.
- Monitor ageing reports and follow up on outstanding matters.
- Resolve account queries professionally and efficiently.
- Build and maintain positive stakeholder relationships.
Team Support
- Review work completed by junior team members.
- Provide guidance, training, and mentorship where required.
- Contribute to improving accounting processes and workflows.
Compliance and Administration
- Maintain complete and accurate financial documentation.
- Ensure audit-ready records and supporting evidence are available.
- Assist with strengthening internal controls and financial procedures.
Requirements
Qualifications
- BCom Degree in Accounting or equivalent qualification.
Experience
- 3-5 years of post-qualification accounting experience.
- Previous experience within a manufacturing or production environment is essential.
Technical Skills
- Solid understanding of IFRS for SMEs, the Companies Act, and South African tax legislation.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience working with accounting software such as Sage, QlikView, Expedyte, or similar systems.
